HIPs are History

Anyone putting a home on the market on or after 21 May 2010 will not have to supply a HIP. However, they must have instructed a qualified person to provide an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC).

If there is already a HIP…

It can still be provided to potential buyers if it improves the chances of a successful sale. It contains the EPC, which must be provided at the earliest opportunity and in any event before exchange of contracts. However, estate agents are no longer obliged to supply a HIP to a potential buyer.

If a HIP has been ordered but not received…

Speak to your HIP provider as soon as possible. The EPC will still be needed.
