The New Directions Team "Girls Out Loud" When we visited the New Directions admin offices we met Bishops Corner Manager and Team Captain Sanchia who described their preparations for the upcoming Dragon Boat Race Festival at Bewl Water on the weekend of September 11th and 12th.

The team have entered to raise money for the Prader Willi Association UK and comes as part of a huge fundraising campaign that Sanchia and sister Philippa have been involved in.

Sanchia explained how their participation in the event came about "My sister Philippa and I raised over £5000 last year for charity running many events including the London Marathon. Unfortunately this year we were set to run the London Marathon for Prader Willi Syndrome but due to injuries we had to pull out leaving us at a lose end.

Philippas husband was in the Dragon Boat Race last year and we both supported him and thought it would be a great idea to build our own Team for this year

Sanchia works for New Directions, a company who has four homes in the area who specialise in PWS and have managed to gather colleagues, friends and family to build a team for the race. Sanchia went on "We are all shapes and sizes and have different levels of fitness" Watch out Bewl water!

We were a little surprised that all the team members are doing their training separately and the first time they will be in a boat together will be for the start of the first race! Watch out Bewl Water indeed!

"No problem" said Sanchia, "we're all camping the night before to build team spirit" Oh - That's OK then!
