Hastings comes second in British Youth Travel Awards

Hastings has come a creditable second in the BETA UK Youth Travel Industry Awards. Hastings narrowly missed out to winners London as Tourism Minister Margaret Hodge praised those working in the youth travel industry who rise to the challenges facing the sector. In the run up Hastings was granted a place on the shortlist in recognition of it's prominence as a destination for Youth travel and then selected as the only other finalist to challenge London for the top award.

Youth Travel Awards FinalistsThe winners have been announced for all the categories in the 2009 BETA UK Youth Travel Awards with Hastings coming in second only to London as the Best UK Youth Destination.

In the Hastings bid for the award their supporting statement cited the many strengths in the town's position as a leading youth destination, from natural attractions like the Country Park to state of the art developments like the new Station Plaza College Complex.

During the year Hastings, in collaboration with it's European Partners, had exhibition stands at several Tourism shows in Belgium, Holland, France and Germany. Hastings also had a presence at the UK travel shows in Alexandra Palace, Olympia and Dover.

The winners in each category were announced at a special awards ceremony at the Courthouse Hotel, London on 3rd December 2009 attended by finalists and sponsors.
